Some Years: Wu Yuren

Beijing has a few must see sights: The Forbidden City, the Great Wall and now 798 Art District. Not only is 798 a tourist must-see, it is also a local commercial success. Rents have risen exponentially in the area in the last few years. It was just a matter of time till 798 was going to have a twin.

A few weeks ago, Beijing artists were forced to leave their studios in Zhenyang, an area that is deemed to be a new art district. Because artists refused to relocate, thugs were sent to the communities and beat several artists with bricks and batons. Wu Yuren gathered together a group of artists to protest the abuse on Chang’an Avenue which is a heavily policed area in the center of the city.

Wu Yuren has transformed White Box Museum of Art into a large demolition site. Due to the controversial nature of this installation there is no information on it. The only text is the following:

The growth of an artist is a continuous process of self-discovery, and going beyong the self.
