Beyond Art Space in 798 has held several stellar solo exhibitions of rising-star artists. Chen Zhiguang’s name is synonymous to ants. All of his works discuss the theme of urbanization. Therefore he chooses the ant as a symbol to represent the people. Although in the past he was best known for his large scale paintings in the last few years he has begun to create stainless steel sculptures of ants that are getting him more and more international recognition.
Beyond Art Space has transformed its gallery into a Ant colony. Ants of all sizes cover the walls. The sheer size of the Queen ant is awe-inspiring.

This is the entrance to the exhibition. The walls, ceiling and floor of the entrance are covered in stainless steel ants.

Ants, in the masses, seem identical to one another but in reality each one is a unique individual much like the rat-race of humanity. This is a close up view of one of the walls of the entrance.
